One student bragged about tailgating a Hold Steady concert, and Finnâ€™s eyes lit up. â€œWe want tailgating at more shows,â€ he said, as serious as if he were talking with his manager. â€œCan you make it work?â€ The student assured Finn that he could and moved along, as Finn beamed.

I'm really glad you posted this. I loved, loved this part of the story. It shows, as you say, how important it is to let superfans have more responsibility, but also the ethos that is so appealing about THS. They encourage their fans to build something, and they do so in a genuine manner and with respect. It proves how precisely marketing is a conversation.
