Leveraging the tech: Electro Harmonix
There are only a handful of pieces of gear that I find absolutely essential when recording/making records. I pretty much won’t leave home without my Meek-itude, Distressor, and my EHX pedals (in particular the Memory Man).
I was delighted to see upon visiting the EHX website how astutely they’re using social media strategy to increase awareness for their brand/products.
On the home page is an amazing video blog full of astounding videos of artists using their gear. To the right of the blog is a very comprehensive list of ways people can connect with the company; including: subscribing to their YouTube channel, “friending” them on MySpace, following them on Twitter, and subscribing to their RSS.
I would encourage them to start a Facebook group as well as a Flickr photostream, and, potentially, a place where users could submit their own work (audio and/or video) created using EHX gear….but these are small points.
The Site is an excellent example of how social media can make a web presence very dynamic and interactive.
Additionally, it’s a wonderful example of how to generate shareable social objects. To wit, here’s a “Short Experimental Video by Thom Yorke (Radiohead)”:
