In Rainbows

Well the email from W.A.S.T.E. (I do so love the reference) greeted me this morning. I followed the link and was soon listening to Radiohead’s In Rainbows. I proffered about $10(US) – seemed like the right amount.

I gotta say, I think it’s a pretty strong record, and certainly one of the more approachable Radiohead records of recent years. I haven’t pulled through the lyrics yet, but it sounds good.

The only thing that bugs me about the whole experience (which, overall, I think is great, though it will spark a lot of imitators who don’t quite get that Radiohead is able to make this move, because…well…they’re Radiohead and make amazing music, and have had the money and muscle of a major label behind them for many years) is that the download of the songs didn’t also include any artwork – not even a cover image. I so hate the generic musical note in Coverflow.

I also really like that they released the download on Wednesday as opposed to the industry-standard Tuesday release.
